Olá, I’m Amanda Carvalho (a-MAHN-da Car-VAH-leeo), a full-time curious and forever (over)thinker based in Treaty 1, Winnipeg.
I'm also a Brazilian award-winning queer designer of colour and creative director of my own company, acdesign & strategy.
My passion is fostering and holding space for socially responsible design to flourish.
I help clients and organizations to question, create, and see themselves represented through design assets and processes that are inclusive, accessible and equitable.
I BELIEVE DESIGN HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DISRUPT SYSTEMS OF POWER,
by deconstructing signifiers that replicate colonial, patriarchal and normative patterns through unconscious biases.
I prioritize LGBTQIA2S+ and/or BIPOC-led projects centring on equitable, relational, intersectional, and sustainable practices.
